Decay of traditional karez systems in favour of tube wells have raised questions about the sustainability of
irrigated agriculture and dependent livelihoods in arid regions like Balochistan. As a result, many researchers and
policymakers are extending proposals for revival of karez system. However, one wonders what farmers think about
these proposals.
