Abstract

The article in your hands discusses the analytical and and technical aspects of “ Hajaj Bin Yousaf, a novel written by renowned Arab novelist jurji Zaidan. Both real and fictitious characters relate with the history have been  discussed in the novel. The novelist has narrated the historical events in an attractive manner. There are mainly two aspects discussed by the novelist.Firstly, the novel starts with the narration of historical  incidence of Fateh Makah and the assassination of Abdullah Bin Zubair by Hajjaj Bin Yousaf . The novelist has also described the brutality of Hajjaj Bin Yousaf .

After the death of Abdullah Bin Zubair, the khilafat was shifted towards Abdul Malik Bin Marwan.

The second aspect deals with the love story of the fictitious characters named as Hassan and Summaiya and the novel ends with their union. The unity of time and place, splendid dialogue writing and the narration of incidents in a grand style by the novelist is commendable/ praiseworthy.
