Relationship between grit and job performance among employees of private sector organizations

The study seeks to explain the relation and effects of grit and job performance among employees of private sector organizations. Basic objective of the study was to find the relationship between grit and job performance, further to investigate the effect of grit on job performance and to find the difference of grit and job performance among male and female employees of private sector organizations. Purposive sampling method was used to collect data from 200 employees from Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The study was conducted in two phases, in phase I pilot study was conducted and in phase II main study was conducted. The data of study was collected through two reliable instruments. These were Grit Short Scale and Job Performance Scale. Data was analyzed by using Pearson correlation, linear regression and independent t-test. Results of the study indicated that grit and job performance had positive significant relationship. Results indicated that grit produce significant positive relationship on job performance. It was found that there were non-significant gender differences on grit and job performance scale. Males were found to have higher grit as compared to females while females were found to have higher job performance as compared to males. It was recommended that counseling should be provided to employees on enhancing their grit as well as different workshops and seminars should be arranged for awareness and guidance regarding importance of grit and job performance enhancement.
