Islam is a religion of peace. Since it is perfect, it is universal. The Prophet (peace be upon him) is likewise a blessing for the whole world. He gave the world a road maps for world peace, among them an invitation to remain in peace with the followers of different religions. Existing peacefully with non-Islamic beliefs is an essential Islamic principle that is clearly stated in many Qur’anic verses, and that has been practiced by Muslims throughout their history. Muslims are allowed to marry their women, to eat the animals they slaughter, to allow them to worship the way they choose, to allow them to serve the country they live in as citizens, and so on. When two parties agree, they co-operate and when the disagree, they do so with tolerance and justice, and also calls for an end to violence. This paper shall discuss the ways in which the pious elders have implemented the Qur’anic and Sunnaic principles for the establishment of world peace and how can these be effectively employed to solve the predicament of world peace.
