Moderating Role of Psychological Resilience on Relationship between Internet Addiction and Depression

The Literature has shown the excessive usage of internet leads to depression among university students. This study was investigated the direct impact of internet addiction on the depression of the university students. The data were analyzed with correlation, regression and Structural Equation Model by using SPSS Amos. According to correlation analysis, there are in a direct association between among internet addiction and depression among university students. Responses obtained from 500 students aged from 18-32 which male 332 (66%) and female were 168 (33%). In this study Siste’s Internet addiction, FrigBorg’s psychological resilience and Sharif’ depression inventory was applied on the respondents. In the context, General Strain Theory also suggested excessive usage of internet becomes to increase depression among students. As a result of hierarchal regression and structural equation model to determine the moderating role of psychological resilience, it was reported that psychological resilience unveiled a direct insignificant effect in the relationship between internet addiction depressions of university students. According to the results, internet addiction was reported predictor of depression but inconsequential and negligible contingent moderating role of psychological resilience.
