Abstract

Naat is an Arabic word which literally means praise and adoration, but in Arabic, Persian, Urdu and other Muslim languages the word Naat has become reserved only for praising and adoring the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Now, whenever we use the word Naat, it refers to a piece of poetry in which the personality and qualities of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) are described and praised. Naat (literal poetry) first began in Arabic, and from Arabic, it spread to Persian, Urdu, and other languages.
