Abstract

Irony is an expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. It is one of the most important & prominent stylistic feature of Arabic language. Therefore, we find various examples in the Nobel Quran and Prophetic Hadith. Many examples in the Holy Quran along with Arabic literature and poetry have been discussed in this article. The method used for this research was descriptive, applied and qualitative. This article comprehensively sheds light on the basic concepts of Irony and how is ironic style used in modern and ancient Arabic literature.
