Analytical and Textual Study of the Historical Novel"Al abbasa Ukht u Alrasheed" by Jurjee Zaidan

Abstract

This article presents a critical study of the famous historical novel"Alabasia ukhat Alrasheed " by the famous Arabic Historical novelist Jurji Zaidan. This novel is both social and historical in its setting. The events and incidents have been taken from the famous Abbasi ruler   Haroon   ur   Rashid’s ruling period and his domestic   life. The main plot of the novel is about the murder of Haroon ur Rasheed’s sister “Alabsia and her husband jaffar Makki to whom she has married secretly. Caliph has also got his two nephews Hassan and Hussain too killed. Jaffer Makki was also the minister of the Caliph. All the characters of the novel are real. Dialogue and diction of the novel are outstanding and charming. These feature of the novel save the readers from boredom. Suspense is another important feature of the novel which is prevailing in the whole novel.
