Abstract

Muslims in the world served Islam in many ways. Some served Islam through their knowledge and some others served it with welfare. History saved every aspect of their good deeds. This article is focusing the intellectual aspect of the contribution in Arabic literature performed by a great scholar of the subcontinent named Shaikh Muhammad Idrees Knadhlvi. He was an eminent scholar of this region who served Islam through his different books written in Arabic and Urdu language. This article will enlighten one of his great works, which is easy and detailed footnotes on specific kind of Arabic literature, named Maqamat.

This worthy work is known among the scholars of the subcontinent - Pakistan and India, but it is needed to be introduced among Arabs and the Muslim World. This article will also discuss Shaikh Muhammad Idrees Kandhalvi's methodology in the footnotes with examples, so that the readers and the scholars may fully understand it. It is an effort to make a connection between Subcontinent and the Arab world through Arabic Literature, which will surely play a positive role in sharing knowledge إن شاء الله.
