This study critically examines the application and effectiveness of Murabaha, a cost-plus-profit financing method, within the operational framework of Islamic banks. As one of the most widely used Islamic financing contracts, Murabaha plays a pivotal role in Shariah-compliant banking by offering an alternative to interest-based lending. The research explores the theoretical underpinnings of Murabaha, its conformity with Islamic jurisprudence, and the practical models employed by Islamic financial institutions. Using a comparative analysis between conventional and Islamic banking practices, the study evaluates the economic efficiency, transparency, and ethical considerations of Murabaha transactions. It also investigates contemporary challenges, such as the risks of form-over-substance criticisms, and regulatory compliance. The findings aim to contribute to the ongoing discourse on Islamic finance by highlighting the strengths and areas for improvement in Murabaha-based financing models.
