Abstract

This study deals with the novel "Siraj" by Radwa Ashour (1946 - 2014), which was written in 1989, and the first edition was published in 1992, and located in one hundred and eighteen pages of small pieces. The story takes place on an island on the sea called the "Ghorrat al-Arab" near Adan. In the late 1800's, the place is like a place in the Arabian Nights. The inhabitants of the island are isolated from the world.Although the writer Radwa Ashour wrote her novel (Siraj) in 1989, inspired by events from history related to the Arab revolution led by the leader Ahmed Orabi in Egypt against the English occupation and the traitorous ruler who collaborated with the occupier, has failed Orabi revolution, and ended defeat and arrest and then exile outside The revolution of the people in the novel Siraj almost a duplicate of what happened in the days of Arabi, and ends with the failure of the revolution, and the death of most of the revolutionaries, history repeats itself, and people do not learn from the past.The researcher chose to study one important figure in the novel, which is (Ammar) Sultan's servant, and adopted the study on two main axes:The first dimensions of the personality: It dealt with the external features of the personality of Ammar, and internal dimensions;and includes: the emotional dimension,The social dimension,and the national dimension.

Second: the use of narrative techniques in the design of personal profiles: and talked about the three of these techniques that the writer asked to draw a character: the dream - messages - remember.The researcher found that Ammar lives in a state of alienation, psychological, spatial and emotional, and she has succeeded in writing the character of the old man skillfully, despite his old age, he has the ability to give, with its psychological features, where it provided the elements of effective personality, but the writer wanted The writer is predicting the failure of most of the revolutions later known as the Arab Spring, which came after the composition of this novel more than twenty years ago, to say that the peoples do not care about the events of history, nor forever.
