The Characteristics of Imru Al Qais’s Description

Abstract

Pre Islamic Era had a literature with unique characteristics and it occupied great importance in world of literature. Among the most prominent poets of this era is Imru 'al-Qais, who was the first to compose his poem. He was very keen in describing every scene of that era. Many characteristics of his descriptive style can be examined through his famous poem. His imagination was marvelous, he used to portray natural world around him in his poetry. His comparison between different things indicates keen observation. He was realistic while mentioning in his poetry, different occasions and places. Imru 'al-Qais was distinguished by his artistic accuracy, the power of perception, distant imagination. This research encompassed characteristics of description of Imr Ul Qais. The main purpose of this research was to analyze this topic critically.   The method used for the research was descriptive and analytical while reviewing the literature, it was pertinent that Imr ul Qais had variety in his description. He, in fact, interpreted his emotions as well as gave this language, a beauty which had not been known to this language before. The focus of this research would be poetry of Imr Ul Qais as he contributed a lot to the Arabic poetry. This research would clarify the descriptive style of Imr ul Qais in his poetry.
