A Comparative study of Folk tale "Qais and Layla'In Arabic and Urdu Literature

Abstract

The folk tales in literature around the globe comprehend tales, myths, traditions, customs. They link regions and countries denying boundaries The article aims to search the Arabic folk tale “Qais and Layli” very famous in Arabic Badia (Desert). Its story which changes from genre of genuine love in Arabic literature in safest love in Urdu literary genre. We will try to reveal the similarities among Arabic and Urdu literature, how the interaction and influence occurred? What resulted in enriching culture and idea in Urdu, changes of the events in the Urdu story while most important ones kept same. The article comes within comparative study of the story in two literatures, it is qualitative study and descriptive method applied. “Qasis and Layli” world class story among both literatures the paper will show the importance of Qasis and Layli as source of inspiration for other love stories written in both literatures. This research will contribute in understanding the impact of Arabic literature on Urdu folk tales.
