Abstract
Interpretation scholars have paid great attention to linguistic sciences in their interpretation of the Holy Qur’an. Linguistics is considered one of the important sciences that helps in accurately understanding the Qur’anic text and interpreting it correctly and understandably. These sciences include various aspects such as: syntax, morphology, rhetoric, vocabulary and linguistic structures, and reasoning using Arabic poetry to explain the concepts and meanings of the words of the Qur’an.
Using these sciences, interpretation scholars seek to shed light on the meaning of the Qur’anic texts and interpret them in a way that reflects a deep understanding of the Arabic language and its methods.
The Andalusian scholars who were interested in linguistic sciences in their interpretation of the Qur’an include a number of scholars famous for interpretation and language in the Islamic period of Andalusia. Among these scholars:
Baqi ibn Mukhlid, Ibn al-Arabi, Ibn Atiyya, al-Qurtubi, Makki ibn Abi Talib, Abu Hayyan, Ibn Jazi, and Ibn al-Faris, these scholars and others made significant contributions to the interpretation of the Qur’an using linguistic and grammatical sciences, which greatly influenced Islamic interpretation during that period in Andalusia.
