Abstract

The field of rhetoric, one of the three branches of Arabic rhetoric, holds a prestigious position among Islamic and Arabic sciences. It is the repository that encapsulates the secrets, beauty, and majesty of language. Speech without rhetorical excellence and virtues holds no value. The science of rhetoric serves as a means to understand the miraculous nature of the Holy Quran. Ignoring rhetoric results in the loss of the ability to comprehend the Quranic miracle. Furthermore, it is essential for understanding religious rules, judgments, and concepts.

The study of rhetoric, a branch of rhetoric, focuses on enhancing the aspects of speech, whether verbal or conceptual, to add beauty, elegance, and fluency. One of the rhetorical virtues is assonance, where the last letters of two phrases coincide. For example, in the Quranic verse, "In a low Sidr (lotus) and a clustered tala tree, and a shade extended." (Quran, 53:14-16). This study explores the aesthetics of assonance style in the Holy Quran through a phonetic lens.
