While scholars and researchers have produced numerous works on the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, as well as Sufis also have expressed their profound love and devotion for Muhammad ﷺ through their writings. This paper presents a brief overview of some prominent Sufi authors who have written on the Prophet’s blessed life, Prophetic virtues and their attributes.

The present article offers a concise introduction to major works authored by Sufis on the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. In particular, it highlights the writings of Syed Muhammad Hashim Thathvi, Qazi Abdul Daim Daim, Syed Abu al-Faiz Qalandar Ali Suhrawardi, Sufi Barkat Ali Ludhianvi, Syed Muhammad Wajeeh al-Sima Irfani, Khawaja Abdul Rahman Choharvi, Sheikh al-Islam Muhammad Anwarullah Qadri Chishti and Baba Irfan-ul-Haq.

This paper explores the practical application of the Prophet Muḥammad’s (Peace be upon him) biography (Sīrah) as a foundational framework for integrated systems of education (Taʿlīm) and spiritual purification (Tazkiyyah). It argues that the Sīrah provides a holistic model that moves beyond mere historical narrative to offer a dynamic paradigm for human development, seamlessly merging the acquisition of knowledge with the cultivation of impeccable character (Iḥsān). The primary research objective is to derive core ethical principles from the Sīrah, such as compassion in mentorship and the primacy of action over speech, and to analyze their practical implementation, i.e., how these very principles were adopted, adapted, and propagated in the context of Sufism in the Subcontinent. This study narrows its focus to a specific case study: the contributions of Ḥaḍrat Mujaddid Alf e Thānī (d. 1624). It examines how he embedded the Prophetic ethical model into his teachings and reformist efforts. His methodology transformed his circle into a hub of learning that served not only as a theological seminary but also as a vibrant community for moral reformation and social upliftment, directly applying the Sīrah’s ethical lessons to the socio-religious context of Mughal India. Ultimately, through this historical analysis, this application positioned the Sīrah not as a historical artifact, but as a living, operative paradigm for spiritual and intellectual reform, as exemplified by the Mujaddid’s work.

In the Indian subcontinent soufis have always enjoyed a highly respected status. The travel to distance regions and dedicated the lives to the propagation of Islam, guiding thousands of people to embrace Islam. Among them Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar (RA) hold a distinguished place as the special disciple of Hazrat Khawja Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki(RA). He established a centre of da'wah in Ajodhan (Pakpattan), where countless people accepted Islam, under his influence. His teaching and spiritual advice have been compiled and are known as 'Malfuzat' . This paper critically examine the traces of ' Seerah of Prophet' reflected in his Malfuzat.

This research examines the spiritual-purification (tazkiyah) and character-building dimensions of the Prophetic biography (Sīrah), which constitute one of the fundamental pillars in the formation of the Islamic social system. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not merely present a structured system of worship and law; rather, he established a strong and harmonious society built upon purification of the soul, moral refinement, and the nurturing of a righteous individual—one who creates a positive impact within his surroundings.

This study situates the subject within the comprehensive reformist vision of Shah Waliullah al-Muhaddith al-Dehlawi (1703–1762), one of the foremost revivalists of the Indian subcontinent. He is among the scholars who approached the Sīrah with a maqāṣid-based understanding, presenting a coherent framework in which individual purification becomes the foundation for community-building. His intellectual vision clarifies a holistic model of social reform rooted in the Prophetic example.

In addition, the intellectual and spiritual contributions of South Asian Sufi scholars are examined, as their writings and practices illuminate the ways in which the Prophetic model has been interpreted and applied to foster spiritual growth, emotional healing, and ethical transformation within diverse social contexts. By integrating the Prophetic tradition with Sufi thought, the study frames an interdisciplinary perspective that situates Islamic teachings as a resource for understanding and addressing human psychology. This approach not only enriches the discourse on the psychological dimensions of the Sunnah but also highlights its relevance to contemporary discussions on mental health, spirituality, and holistic well-being.

Aspects of Seerah in the poetry of Maulana Muhammad Akram Awan (R.A)

Maulana Muhammad Akram Awan (d:2017) was the Sheikh of the Silsila Naqshbandiah Owaisiah and a versatile personality. He served in various fields of life as a farmer, teacher, businessman, poet, educationist, physician, tourist, commentator, thinker, hadith commentator, commentator, writer, humorist, journalist, and politician. Research work is ongoing on every aspect of his personality.

He also tried to reform mankind through poetry. As a poet, he wrote in both Urdu and traditional Punjabi. He authored seven poetry collections in Urdu: “Gard-e-Safar,” “Nishan-e-Manzil,” “Mata’-e-Faqeer,” “Aas in theJazeera,” “Deeda-e-Tar,” “Kaun Si Aisi Baat Hui Hai,” and “Soch Samundar.” His only Punjabi poetry collection is titled “Dil Darwaza.”

In his poetry, he used the pen names Faqeer, Seemab Owaisi, and sometimes Ameer. The main themes of his poetry are Divine love, love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, , serving humanity, political reform and humor.

His poetry beautifully expresses the meanings of the Holy Qur’an, the sayings of the Prophet ﷺ (Hadith), and the Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Like the great poets of the past, he skillfully used allusions and classical literary terms in his work.

This article presents a research discussion on the salient aspects of Seerat-e-Tayyaba in his poetry.

إن العلامة محمد إقبال (1877م-1938م) الشاعر والفيلسوف الباكستاني المصلح ، والصوفي العملي ، يعد واحدا من أولئك الأعلام الذين سعوا الى بعث النور في سماء الشرق عامة ، وشبه القارة الهندية خاصة (الهند و باكستان)، وصاحب نظرية إصلاحية عرفت بنظرية الذاتيّة التي تجلت من خلال دواوينه الشعرية ، ومحاضراته الفلسفية ، تناول من خلالها السيرة النبوية التي جاءت مبثوثة في ثناياها ، وأولاها العناية التي تستحق .

وتجلي هذه المداخلة العلميّة في هذا المؤتمر الدولي منهج اقبال في تناوله للسيرة النبويّة ، والذي جاء منهجا فريدا ومتميّزا ومخالفا لما سار عليه دارسوها قديما وحديثا ، بدأ من الإمام البصيري ( ت 696ه ) في قصيدة البردة التي مدح فيها الرسول صلي الله عليه وسلم ، الى الشاعر المصري أحمد شوقي ( ت1932م ) في قصيدته الهمزية ، إذ دأبوا على السّرد لمجريات تلك السيرة في تسلسل نسقي .

في حين تفرّد إقبال سالكا منهجا إستبطانيا استنباطيّا موظفا أحداث السيرة النبويّة المفصليّة : إنطلاقا من المولد النبوي الشريف ، فالبعثة ، فالوحي، فالهجرة ، فالفتح...فالمعراج... لمعالجة واقع الأمة الإسلامية وإصلاحها في الحال والمآل ، والدعوة الى تحرّرها ، وتحرير أوطانها من الإستعمار ، وتحديثها ، وانفتاحها على الآخر.

Abstract

The methodology of Sheikh Abu Al Hasan Ali Al-Nadawi(رحمہ اللہ) in explaining the reform of social interaction through the Prophet’s (ﷺ) biography is based on self-purification, practical example, mercy, justice, consideration of people’s natures, and presenting the complete Prophetic model that reforms individuals and societies.

In his writings on the Prophet's(ﷺ) biography, Sheikh Abu al-Hasan Ali Al-Nadawi (رحمہ اللہ) presents a comprehensive educational and ethical methodology for improving relationships among members of society. He believes that improving relationships can only be achieved by returning to the practical model embodied in the Prophet's (ﷺ) conduct, as he is the exemplar in dealing with others, gentleness, justice, reconciliation, and humility towards both young and old. He emphasizes that repairing relationships begins with repairing hearts, through instilling faith, strengthening inner conscience, and developing a sense of awareness and piety, because conduct is the fruit of belief.

Sheikh (رحمہ اللہ) focused on refining the soul, controlling anger, improving morals, and being patient with the harm inflicted by others. In his view, the Prophet’s(ﷺ) biography, is a school for creating a balanced person who treats his family and community well. He explains that the Prophet, (ﷺ) established a refined society through mercy, not violence, and reformed souls through tolerance, forgiveness, and kindness. This is the basis for reforming relationships within the family and society.

He emphasized the justice of the Messenger(ﷺ) in all his dealings: between his wives, his companions, and his family, which makes justice an important pillar in reforming social relations. He points to the style of the Messenger(ﷺ)in addressing his companions and his family with kind and refined words, and calming souls. Taking into account everyone’s feelings, which reflects the importance of constructive dialogue in the life of a Muslim. He explains that the Prophet’s (ﷺ) methodology in reform was truly practical, dealing with situations in a manner appropriate to the time, place, and circumstances, far from rigidity and excessive leniency.

In conclusion, Sheikh Nadawi’s methodology in addressing the reform of social interaction in the Prophet’s (ﷺ) biography is based on reviving the Muhammadan model of mercy, morality, justice, and building the human being from within. It is an educational methodology that aims to reform the individual and society together through the biography as a way of life.

The Psychological Sanctuary: Exploring the Prophet’s Sleep Habits in Seerat-e-Nabwi

Seerat-e-Nabwi, the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is not just a history reading; it
shows the way people should behave, their spirituality, and the state of their minds. The prophet's
sleep habits - Qailulah (midday nap), Tahajjud (night prayer), and right-side sleeping - were the
main events of his biography, which also had a tremendous psychological impact. These habits,
based on faith, discipline, and simplicity, also reflected a lifestyle that was both physically and
spiritually balanced. As a result, they provided the world with a new perspective on mental
health that is easily relatable to both Islamic tradition and modern science. This paper examines
the information on the sleep habits of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as mentioned in
Seerat-e-Nabwi and Hadith literature, presenting it as a holistic framework for psychological
well-being from an Islamic perspective. The paper successfully merges Quranic verses, Prophetic
Traditions, and empirical data on sleep hygiene and mental health by employing a hermeneutical
method from uṣūl al-tafsīr and ḥadīth criticism in conjunction with qualitative health research.
This research work highlights several points where the Model of the Prophet as an anticipator of
Modern Sleep Science Principles is close to being true, and, at the same time, it does not rule out
that the Model is endowed with further metaphysical and moral dimensions beyond those already
known. The model of the study that releases science principles of modern sleep in the prophetic
heritage tradition not only brings together, through the acknowledgment of sleep as worship,
spiritual practice, and contemporary health discourse, but also extends further horizons of
spirituality in the Muslim context, therefore, opening a new area of the psychological domain
that is culturally rooted.

قاضی ثناء اللہ پانی پتی نقشبندی مجددی(1722ء – 1810ء)شیخ جلال کبیر الاولیاء پانی پتی ؒ کی اولاد میں سے ہیں اور ان کا نسب بارہ واسطوں سے امیر المومنین حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ تک پہنچتا ہے۔ قاضی صاحب بیک وقت مفسر، محدث، فقیہ و متکلم، اور صوفی تھے۔ آپ نے تصوف کے موضوع پر 'ارشاد الطالبین' کے نام سے ایک کتاب عربی اور فارسی زبان میں مرتب کی جو اپنی گیرائی، گہرائی، تجزیہ مضامین اور حسن تفہیم کے اعتبار سے صوفیانہ تصانیف میں ایک منفرد مقام رکھتی ہے۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ کی اطاعت و اتباع اس تالیف کا اصل مقصد ہے۔ اس کتاب میں سیرت النبی کے عرفانی پہلو کو اجاگر کیا گیا ہے۔ اس کتاب کے بغور مطالعہ سے ایک مسلمان کا ظاہر ،سنت نبوی ﷺ کے سانچے میں ڈھل سکتا ہے اور اس کے حواس باطنی کو چشمہ معرفت کا سراغ مل سکتا ہے۔

فی زمانہ سلسلہ طریقت اور خانقاہی نظام میں جو خرابیاں اور بدعات در آئی ہیں، ولایت کے حوالے سے لوگوں میں جو غلط فہمیاں پیدا ہو گئی ہیں اور اولیاء کی کرامات اور رتبے کے سلسلے میں جو افراط و تفریط پائی جاتی ہے اس کو دور کرنے کے لیے یہ کتاب مرتب کی گئی تاکہ لوگو ں کو اصل حقیقت معلوم ہو۔ اس کتاب میں باطنی علوم کی معرفت، باطنی کمالات کے حصول کے طریقے، روحانیت کے اسرار و رموز ، ولایت کے مراتب و دلائل، کرامات کی اقسام و حیثیت، سالکین کے اوصاف و آداب ، کاملوں اور مرشدوں کے آداب، قرب الٰہی کے اسباب اور ان میں ترقی کے عوامل و مقامات بیان کرنے، اور صوفیانہ اصطلاحات کی وضاحت کے لیے قرآن حکیم ،نبی کریم ؐ کی ا حادیث مبارکہ و سیرت طیبہ سے استدلال کیا گیا ہے۔اس کتاب میں سیرت نبوی زمانی ترتیب پر نہیں بلکہ تزکیہ نفس کے پیش ِ نظر بیان کی گئی ہے۔ سیرت و احادیث نبوی سے مختلف مسائل کا استنباط قاضی صاحب کی بلند نگاہی، عمیق نظری اور معاشرے کے گہرے مشاہدہ پر دلالت کرتا ہے۔

اہل علم اور تصوُّف سے دلچسپی رکھنے والے حضرات سے یہ امر مخفی نہیں کہ برصغیر پاک و ہند میں کئی عقیدتمندوں ، مریدوں اور خلفاء نے بڑی عقیدت و تحقیق اور محنت سے اپنے اپنے مشائخ کے مجلسی ملفوظات و ارشادات جمع کیے ہیں۔ حتیٰ کہ ہمارے محدوح حضرت خواجہ نظام الدین اولیاء محبوب الہی رحمۃاللہ علیہ (253 ھ ) کے ملفوظات کے (۳، ۴)تین چار تالیف مجموعے پائے جاتے ہیں۔ مثلاًحضرت امیر خسرو رحمۃاللہ علیہ نے افضل الفواد ( ۷۱۳ تا ۷۱۵ ھ ) اور رحۃ لمحبین (زمانہ تالیف (۷۱۹ تا ۷۲۱ ھ ) کے عنوان نے ملفوظات کے دو مجموعے مرتب کیے۔ اس طرح سید مبارک علوی کرمانی نے ’’سیدالدولیاء‘‘ کے نامہ سے ایک مجموعہ جمع کیا۔ مگر ان تمام ملفوظات یا ’’ملفوظات ادب‘‘ میں جو شہرت مقبولیت اور عوام و خواص کے نزدیک پذیرائی ان کے ملفوظات فوائد الفواد مرتبہ خواجہ حسن علاء سجزی م ۷۳۶ھ ) کے حمعروف یہ خواجہ حسن دہلوی کے حصہ میں آئی ہے وہ کسی دوسرے مجمععے کے حصے میں نہیں آسکی ۔ اس کے زبان فارسی ہے اور پانچ جلدوں / حصوں میں ۳ شعبان ۷۰۷ھ تا ۱۹ شعبان ۷۲۲ ھ تقریباً پندرہ سال تک کی ایک سوایک سو اٹھاسی (۱۸۸) مجالسی میں حضرت خواجہ صاحب رحمۃ اللہ کی گفتگو، ملفوظات اور ارشادات پر مشتمل ہے۔ اس فارسی مجموعہ کیا اردو ترجمہ بھی دستیاب ہے۔

A prominent Sufi poet of the Indian subcontinent, Pir Meher Ali Shah combines spiritual depth, literary elegance, and intense love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in his verses. His Na‘at poetry transcends mere praise and becomes a profound spiritual and artistic portrayal of the Prophet's ﷺ character, appearance, and significant events from his life such as the Mi‘raj and Hijrah. Using refined metaphors, rhythmic cadence, and emotionally resonant imagery, the poet presents themes of prophetic beauty, moral excellence, intercession, and divine unity. The famous Na‘at “Aj sakh mitraan di vadhairi ae” epitomizes this harmonious blend of devotional intensity and aesthetic expression. The research concludes that Pir Meher Ali Shah’s poetry is not only a tribute to the Prophet ﷺ but a mystical invitation that fosters an inner connection with the Seerah through love, reverence, and poetic beauty.

Traces of the Prophetic Biography in the Poetry of Khwaja Ghulam Hasan Multani Shaheed: An Analytical Study

In the Sufi tradition of the Indian subcontinent, an appealing and impactful mode of presenting the life of the Prophet ﷺ is prominently manifested through Mawlid poetry and na‘tiyah (devotional praise). In the teachings of Sufi saints, “remembrance of the Beloved” and “obedience to the Beloved” occupy a central place, where the “Beloved” refers to the august person of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. For this reason, among Sufi poets, the depiction of the Prophetic biography ﷺ is not merely an expression of devotion and love, but also a means of spiritual training and adherence to the Prophetic model ﷺ.

Hafiz Jamalullah Multani (d. 1250 AH) is among the distinguished Sufis of the subcontinent whose discourses (malfuzat) articulate the spiritual and ethical dimensions of the Prophetic biography ﷺ with profound influence and intellectual insight. His disciple, Khwaja Ghulam Hasan Multani Shaheed, rendered this Sufi understanding of the Prophetic life into poetic form in his renowned work Anwar-e-Jamaliyah. The seventeen Persian na‘ts included in the preface of this book are derived from the gatherings of Hafiz Jamalullah Multani’s malfuzat, presenting a luminous example of the Mawlid poetic tradition.

In these na‘ts, along with portrayals of the beauty, perfection, and exalted status of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the poet’s fervent emotions, longing for vision, and yearning for union are vividly evident. In this way, Anwar-e-Jamaliyah becomes a beautiful synthesis of Sufi spirituality, poetic art, and Prophetic biography, offering the tradition of Mawlid al-Nabi ﷺ in the religious and literary context of the subcontinent with a renewed intellectual and aesthetic dimension.

This article presents a research-based and analytical study of the traces of the Prophetic biography ﷺ in the poetry of Khwaja Ghulam Hasan Multani Shaheed, in order to better understand the trends, intellectual background, and literary impact of Sufi approaches to Prophetic biography.

عالم اسلام میں بہت کم شخصیات ایسی گزری ہیں جنہوں نے تعلیم و تربیت، تزکیه و احسان اور کتاب وسنت میں رسوخ کے ساتھ ساتھ اپنے فکری، دعوتی اور فلاحی اقدامات کے ذریعے عالم اسلام کی ایک بڑے حصے کو مستفید کیا ہے. ان چند ہستیوں میں ایک ممتاز نام امیر کبیر سید علی ہمدانی کا ہے المعروف بہ شاہ ہمدان ، جو ایران کے شہر ہمدان میں 714 ھ میں ہمدان کے حکمران خاندان میں پیدا ہوئے ۔ واللہ گرامی شیخ سید شرف الدین ہممدان کے گورنر اور مشہور صوفی شیخ علاؤ الدین سمنانی آپ کے ماموں تھے ۔ بارہ سال کی عمر میں مروجہ علوم سے فراغت حاصل کی اور سیاست و اقتدار سے منسلک ہونے کے بجائے خلق خدا کی تربیت اور دین کی تبلیغ کو اپنا مشن بنایا ۔ آپ آٹھویں صدی کے مشہور صوفی، داعی، مفکر اور مصلح تھے جنہوں نے تین دفعہ پوری دنیا کی سیاحت کی۔خواب میں آنحضرت صلی اللہ علیوم کی ہدایت کے مطابق اسلام کی دعوت و تبلیغ کے لئے خطہ کشمیر کا رخ کیا اور کشمیر سے گلگت بلتستان، سکر دو تک مساجد اور خانقاہوں کا جال بچھایا اور اپنے افکار اور علمی و عملی مساعی کے ذریعے اس خطے کی سیاست، معیشت، معاشرت اور ثقافت میں انقلابی تبدیلیوں کا محرک بنے وہ کشمیر کے سب سے بڑے داعی اور مبلغ تھے جن کے ہاتھ پر 37 ہزار ہندو د و بدھ بلا واسطہ مشرف باسلام ہوئے۔ ان کا دور سیاحت، اکیس سال پر محیط ہے۔ کشمیر کے علاوہ مزدقان ، ختلان ، بدخشان، بلخ، شام ، عراق ، حجاز، روم ،سری لنکا، ہندوستان ، افغانستان ، چین ، تبت اور ترکستان میں لاکھوں بندگان خدا ان سے فیضیاب ہوئے ۔

ABSTRACT:

The role of Sufi scholars in the intellectual and spiritual development of Islam holds pivotal significance. Through practices such as dhikr (remembrance of God), worship, mujahada (striving against the self), riyadat discipline seclusion meditation and companionship of the righteous, the Sufis sought purification of the soul and reformation of the heart. These spiritual engagements not only contributed to the moral and inner development of individuals but also exerted profound influence on the collection ethical and intellectual structure of the Muslim community. The efforts of the Sufis were not confined to personal mystical experiences; rather they were firmly rooted in the primary sources of Islam, namely the Qur’an, the tradition of the Prophet the Prophetic biography search and established juristic principles. In this regard, Sufism emerges as a comprehensive spiritual and moral system that maintains full harmony with the Shariah. The present study analytically examines the ways in which the Sufis drew upon these fundamental Islamic sources and integrated their spiritual practices into a coherent framework that provided enduring ethical and intellectual to the Muslim Ummah.
